MIT Jameel Clinic’s Dina Katabi awarded with 2026 IEEE Computers and Communications Award

This year's IEEE Awards recognized Principal Investigator Dina Katabi.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) have announced today that MIT Jameel Clinic Principal Investigator Dina Katabi has been honored in the 2026 IEEE Awards with the prestigious 2026 IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award “for creative contributions to wireless and network communication, which led to impact on multiple subfields including wireless sensing.”

This award recognizes Katabi’s impactful contributions to wireless and network communications. Katabi’s work in wireless sensing has led to new, contactless ways to monitor disease progression like Parkinson’s, sleep quality, medication response, and more.

Each year the IEEE Awards Board recommends a select group of recipients to receive IEEE’s most prestigious honors. These are individuals whose exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions have made a lasting impact on technology, society, and the engineering profession.

The Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award was established by the IEEE Board of Directors in 1986 and is named in honor of Dr. Koji Kobayashi, who has been a leading force in advancing the integrated use of computers and communications.
